 POSITION DESCRIPTION

ClearSaleing offers a unique opportunity to a DBA looking to advance their skills by managing a very high volume, high performance database system that is using the most advanced features of SQL Server 2005. As Senior DBA you will be responsible for managing the operations of a complex, multi-tiered distributed database architecture consisting of SQL Server 2005 transactional databases, SQL Server Analysis Services multi-dimensional cubes, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Server (SSIS) ETL processes.

You will report to the CTO and will work closely with the developers, business analysis and account managers. You will be responsible for production and development environments and will be expected to contribute to development by writing MDX, reports SSIS flows.

The Senior DBA position is a critical and challenging position at ClearSaleing. You will be expected to use your experience to make recommendations and take ownership of the database environment.


Job Responsibilities:

Perform Tier 2 & 3 troubleshooting and support for complex issues
»
Provide escalated implementation support.
»
Create and update technical documentation, as required.
»
Work strategic and other internal projects, as assigned.
»
Handle normal recurring operations tasks with little direct supervision and lead special projects under the direction of the CTO.
»
Manage multiple SQL Server instances across various networks within various configurations.
»
Serve as a subject matter expert regarding optimal physical database design and SQL Server configurations best suited for a given server environment.
»
Ensure that the Operating System is efficiently servicing SQL Server requests.
»
Perform SQL Server diagnostics via Operating System and SQL Server performance counters.
»
Diagnose low-level SQL Server bottlenecks by using SQL Profiler, interrogating internal system tables and using various other utilities.
»
Identify SQL Server and Operating System operational problems by reviewing various logs.
»
Diagnose and rectify issues with SQL Server Agent.
»
Read execution plans and identify problems with SQL queries.
»
Propose different installation and configuration options, understanding their benefits and ramifications.
»
Design creative and supportable technical solutions to challenging problems, as needed.
»
Set up and troubleshoot SQL Server replication and log shipping.
»
Write comprehensive technical procedure documentation, as needed.
»
Work strategic and other internal projects, as assigned.
»
Ensure successful resolution of work within established completion time guidelines with high quality of service.
»
Provide accurate and timely documentation of work progress and resolution within trouble ticket tracking system.
»
Perform other duties, as assigned.
»
Develop SSRS reports
»
Make enhancements to SSAS cube structures
»
Make enhancements to SSIS job flows for the ETL processes
»
Design and implement disaster recovery plans

Job Requirements:
»
College Degree preferred but will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience with a minimum educational requirement of a H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
»
Bachelor's degree, engineering or scientific major preferred, or industry recognized certification or equivalent strong work experience.
»
At least 3 years SQL Server DBA experience managing SQL Server backups, performance tuning, and general maintenance.
»
Strong understanding of SQL Server internals (i.e., lazy writer process, write-ahead log, etc).
»
Proficient in writing Transact SQL Queries and Stored Procedures.
»
Strong understanding of SQL Server backup and restore procedures.
»
Proficient in migrating users, jobs, DTS packages and databases between different servers.
»
Windows 2000/2003 experience.
»
Strong working knowledge of project management and time management techniques needed to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple workloads and projects with minimal supervision.
»
Proficient in writing MDX
»
Experience with either SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005 analysis services
»
MCDBA certification preferred.
